Jeffreys Bay

Jeffreys Bay — "J-Bay" — is a surfing town on the Eastern Cape coast, about 75 km south-west of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), and is widely regarded as South Africa's surfing capital. Its celebrated Supertubes break is a long, fast, tubing right-hand point break that can peel for 300 metres or more, and is often described as one of the finest right-hand point breaks in the world.

Jeffreys Bay has hosted a World Surf League Championship Tour event at Supertubes for over 40 years — held most years in July — bringing the sport's elite to the Eastern Cape. Optimal surf runs from roughly 4 to 10 feet, and the town's shops and surf culture have grown up around the wave.
