Muizenberg Beach

Muizenberg Beach lies on the warmer False Bay side of the Cape Peninsula, where the coast curves round to the east. Its long, gently sloping beach and consistent small waves make Surfer's Corner the main surfing spot in Cape Town and a favourite place to learn — soft, forgiving breaks and a shallow gradient forgive the wobbles. Local lore even records Agatha Christie surfing here on visits in the 1920s, and Muizenberg is often described as the cradle of South African surfing.

The beachfront's row of brightly painted Victorian-style bathing boxes is one of Cape Town's most photographed sights. Muizenberg holds full-status Blue Flag certification for the 2025/26 season on WESSA's City of Cape Town list.
