Spring (Aug–Oct) for flowers; summer evenings for sunset concerts

On Table Mountain's eastern slopes, Kirstenbosch was established in 1913 as a garden devoted to South Africa's indigenous plants — one of the first of its kind in the world. It sits within the Cape Floral Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Highlights include the "Boomslang" tree-canopy walkway, sprawling lawns for picnics, and the popular summer sunset concerts.
